J2 forestay problem for Éric Bellion

While Eric Bellion, skipper of Stand As One – Altavia, was sailing towards Cape Horn during Sunday night the pin holding the forestay of his J2 (foresail) worked loose.

After informing Vendée Globe race management his team confirmed that Bellion has managed to recover all the parts and that repairs will be possible. 

The skipper of Stand As One – Altavia will have to slow down. He will take advantage of lighter winds expected until Thursday and it is reported he will try to repair them, While he confesses that "the last few hours have been trying", Éric Bellion is said to have assured his team that he "has given himself a rest before starting the repairs".

This Wednesday morning, January 8, the skipper of Stand as One - Altavia informed race management of the successful repair of his J2 axle. Eric Bellion can now continue his race with determination. Next objective: the mythical Cape Horn.
