The Musée National de la Marine has one of the finest and oldest collections in the world, spanning more than 250 years of French maritime and naval history. A network of seven sites in Brest, Dugny, Paris, Port-Louis, Rochefort and Toulon, it is a museum of art and history, science and technology, popular traditions and human adventure.

With its rich maritime cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible (lighthouses, ports, ships, underwater archaeological treasures, traditions, songs, dances, legends, etc.), the Musée National de la Marine is today reinventing itself as a museum for society, open to the times, to raise awareness of ocean issues and preserve this common asset of humanity by sharing its treasures with as many people as possible.

The Musée National de la Marine is a natural partner for the Vendée Globe, providing a forum for exchanges and encounters on the issues affecting the blue planet. To celebrate its 10th edition, the famous non-stop single-handed round-the-world race will be bringing the winds of the open sea to this Mecca of maritime culture in autumn 2024, with a brand new exhibition taking the public on a voyage of discovery of ocean racing and its flagship event.
