Loïs Berrehar will be the skipper of the new IMOCA Banque Populaire in the Vendée Globe 2028

On Tuesday 25 March, Banque Populaire announced its participation in the 2028 Vendée Globe, with the construction of a new IMOCA boat, Banque Populaire 14, due to be launched in early 2027. Its skipper, Loïs Berrehar, is one of the most talented of his generation. At the age of 30, he has a solid background in Figaro racing (winner of the Transat Paprec, 2nd in the Solitaire du Figaro).

I'm very lucky to be joining one of the best offshore racing teams in the world and to be able to take part in the Vendée Globe, the race I dream about the most. I feel that there is a lot of enthusiasm, listening and kindness in the team. I intend to work as hard as I can to achieve the goals we're going to set together. All my previous experience, particularly in the Figaro class, has helped to prepare myself for this new adventure in the IMOCA class. The outstretched hand and confidence of Banque Populaire is an incredible opportunity.

Meanwhile, the team is continuing its programme with the Ultim, skippered by Armel Le Cléac'h - winner of the 2016 Vendée Globe - while continuing to support the French Sailing Federation and the French Surfing Federation.
