Mainsail loop broken for Denis Van Weynbergh

"It's not good news," the Belgian skipper Denis Van Weynbergh reported in a video. This morning, he confided that his mainsail halyard loop was broken. "That means that my entire mainsail halyard pulled through," he explains. "All I have left is the spinnaker halyard, which I'm going to have to reuse. But it's quite complicated." And the skipper of D'Ieteren Group, currently 33rd and last in the Vendée Globe, adds: "we're going to try to find a solution!" According to the latest ETAs (estimated times of arrival), Denis could cross the line on Sunday, March 2.
