Manuel Cousin resumes his race after a collision with something last night
Yesterday evening, Sunday 1st December at 1855hrs UTC French skipper Manuel Cousin informed the Vendée Globe race management and his team that he had had a collision with an OANI (unidentified object or animal) while he was making around 15 knots sailing under large gennaker. Cousin was inside his IMOCA and was thrown into his saloon but he is not injured, only sustaining a few bruises. After an initial inspection of the boat he has confirmed he has had no water ingress into his boat. As night was falling quickly, he thought it would be better to reduce his speed and course in order to be able to carry out a complete inspection of his interior and exterior hull at daybreak this Monday morning. He has just informed the race management that there is nothing unusual to be noted, nothing which is worrying him. Everything is functioning normally at this time. The skipper has cautiously resumed his race, remaining attentive to his boat.
