Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance) passes the Cape of Good Hope in the lead

This Friday 29/11/2024, Charlie Dalin passed the Cape of Good Hope at 15:45 UTC leading the fleet of the 10th Vendée Globe. He reached this first of the three great capes after 19d 03h 43min of racing. It took him 7d 18h ​​39min to reach Good Hope from the equator.

The Agulhas Current, giant swirling whirlpools at the crossroads of three oceans

At the southern tip of the African continent where the Atlantic, Indian and Southern Oceans converge, is the Agulhas Current which forms giant whirlpools several hundred kilometers in diameter. This current is feared by skippers mainly for the the sea conditions which can be kicked up.

Nerves build as transition time arrives
