Known as the pioneer of precision that built its name supplying the most accurate, reliable marine chronometers to the world’s navies in the 19th century, the independent Swiss watch manufacture Ulysse Nardin will serve as an Official Partner and the Official Timekeeper of the Vendée Globe.
As a tribute to the legendary sailing race that will celebrate its 10th edition, Ulysse Nardin is excited to introduce the Diver NET Vendée Globe, a maverick watch for those who dare to push boundaries and explore beyond what’s possible.
This limited-edition Diver NET Vendée Globe is inspired not just by the race and the courageous men and women who compete in the Everest of the seas, but also by the company’s vision to produce sustainable watches that highlight the fragility of the world’s oceans.
This timepiece encapsulates the spirit of the ocean as it has been created through collaborations with regional partners of the French Atlantic coast. The name "NET” refers to the fishing nets collected by local fishermen in Les Sables d’Olonne, where the race will set sail. These nets have been upcycled into an unconventional material, NYLO®, which can be found in the side parts and the case back.
It also features upcycled carbon fibers, Carbonium®, sourced from CDK Technologies, the local shipyard renowned for constructing IMOCA yachts that compete in the Vendée Globe. In addition, the movement’s escapement is produced from upcycled silicon.
Together, these pioneering, environment-first elements make the Diver NET Vendée Globe the most sustainable watch ever to emerge from Ulysse Nardin’s historic Manufacture which has been disrupting haute horlogerie since 1846.
