Conrad Colman also crosses the start line
The skipper, who has dual New Zealand and American nationalities, was unable to cross the starting line on schedule at 13:02 due to a rope fouling his propeller. Colman therefore headed towards Les Sables d’Olonne before dropping sail to resolve the problem. The MS AMLIN sailor then turned back out to sea, crossing the starting line at 14:17.
He is competing in the Vendée Globe for the second time, having completed the 2016 race despite losing his mast 700 miles from the finish. This year the skipper is sailing the IMOCA in which Maxime Sorel finished 10th in the last edition.
