To launch the summer season, the festivities will begin on Friday 3rd June 2022 with the Grand Parade of the 2020 Vendée Globe Skippers, to celebrate these men and women of the sea.
This parade will take place on the Remblai in Les Sables d'Olonne. It will begin from Place de Strasbourg from 9.30pm to Casino des Atlantes and will be punctuated by a firework display visible from the Grande Plage.
A privileged moment of sharing between the public and the skippers who have made them dream of the open sea during this time of pandemic and confinement.
Damien Seguin (Groupe APICIL) sixth over the line and first daggerboard IMOCA
Damien Seguin crossed the finish line at 11:18:20hrs UTC today, in a south-westerly breeze of 20 knots to become the sixth skipper to arrive at Les Sables d’Olonne. His race time is 80d 21h 58min 20s. His delta to winner Yannick Bestaven is 18h 13min 34s
Damien Seguin this morning on his Easterly position
The double Paralympic champion is enjoying his fifth place in the pack that is advancing up along the coast of Brazil. Especially since his offshore, easterly position gives him a slight advantage in terms of the course he has to follow to reach the northern hemisphere.
Seguin, 'not unhappy' with his option, lying second
Second on the Vendée Globe leaderboard since yesterday Damien Seguin is not unhappy with his ranking. The solo skipper of Groupe APICIL has done well from his option in the East and is expecting to get into new breeze after skirting to the east of the centre of a high pressure which has generated only light winds for him in recent days. This is Seguin from the radio call early this morning.....
